About Us

Westport Family & Community Resource Centre was established in 2004 in response to the needs of the local community. We are a community managed and government funded organisation. We offer a drop-in service where anybody can come in to seek information about the different supports and services offered locally and nationally. We provide information and advice on a wide range of social, community, health & education issues.
We offer a range of support services, including affordable individual counselling for both adults and adolescents. Our counsellors are fully accredited and the service is confidential.
We have a small meeting room available that can be rented at minimal cost to local groups. The centre can also be used for meetings with external agencies such as MABS (Money Advice & Budgeting Service), Social Workers, Drug & Alcohol Counsellors and the Mayo Women’s Support Services (Domestic Violence Support).
We also run a number of community-focused projects. Our employees work directly with local people and volunteers, running and managing projects such as the Quay Community Project, Befriending Mayo, Computer Classes for Older People, and Cara Visitation, which all deal directly with the needs of people within the community.
The Centre is part of the Family and Community Services Resource Centre Programme, funded by Tusla - the Child & Family Agency. There are currently 108 Family Resource Centres in Ireland. We are directed by a voluntary management committee, which is made up of representatives from the local area who all work in a voluntary capacity. Give us a call on 098 24419 if you have any questions at all - if we can't help directly we will refer you to someone who can.
Vision Statement:
"To have a community spirit within Westport that is all embracing, happy, enriching, safe and sustainable".
Mission Statement:
“We will build family, community participation and well-being through the provision of information, support, training and community projects”.
